Ever wondered how to remove black mold? This story helps you understand how to do this task in the right way.
Molds are a type of fungi that grow in an environment that is moist and warm. These fungi reproduce themselves by releasing tiny spores into the air, that land on moist surfaces and propagate themselves. There are many types of molds one can see growing everywhere; in the houses, walls, stones, trees, etc.

Toxic Black Mold

Although not all molds are poisonous, black mold also known as Stachybotrys chartarum or Stachybotrys atra is highly toxic. It is commonly found growing on the walls of our houses. It is so toxic that the Center of Disease Control (CDC) has stated that this mold is responsible for over "100 cases of lung disorders".
It is responsible for producing mycotoxins, a poisonous byproduct which leads to many ailments. It is a slimy, greenish black mold that thrives and multiplies on objects and surfaces that contain cellulose (a polymer); walls, wood, etc.

Removal

The mold not only damages the appearance of the walls or other objects it grows on, but also downgrades the quality of air. Here are a few tips to remove toxic black mold.
Moisture is what the mold thrives on, so the first thing that needs to be done is identify the source of moisture and work towards eliminating it. Have the humidity of the room checked, if it exceeds 45%, then have the entire room dehumidified, but this cannot be done on outside walls or locations.
Water tanks or broken pipes are the main sources of moisture. Have an overall inspection done and fix, repair, or change the damage.
As mold spreads through air, it is imperative to block its escape and prevent it from depositing its spores anywhere else. Start with one room or a location at a time, and contain each place completely. You can do so by using plastic sheets sealed with duct tape to cover doorways, windows, vents, or any opening from where the spores of the mold may escape.
Some people have suggested the use of exhaust fans near the contaminated area. This is done because while cleaning the mold, it will get disturbed and settle around the same place or fly out; the breeze from the exhaust will pull it out. One can even install an air purifier while cleaning black mold.
Once all precautionary measures are in place, it is time for the actual physical removal of the black mold. To clean black mold, use a sponge dipped in soapy water, clean out as much mold as possible. If the mold is dry, then lightly moisten it. It is easy to remove moist mold rather than dry ones. Use a scrapper for stubborn molds.
Once the mold has been completely cleared off the object, disinfect it to kill the remaining unseen specks of spores. There are some specific black mold treatment options such as cleaner, detergents, and specific mold disinfectants available in the market, one could use them too, else the normal disinfectant will also work well.
The cleared area should be completely dry. Once all the mold has been cleared, carefully remove and discard it all into plastic bags. Seal the bags and then dispose them off.
Toxic black mold removal is essential not only for maintaining the beauty of your house, but also for preventing the spread of infection, allergy, and other poison-related health conditions. There are a few indications and symptoms that exhibit themselves: foul odor, a feeling of dampness-related cold environment, and experiencing allergic reactions. Also, make sure to wear protective clothing before carrying out this task.
