Effective Wall Cleaning Solutions

Baking Soda

✦ Make a thick paste by mixing equal amounts of baking soda and water.

✦ Soak this cloth in the paste formed and lightly scrub it over the stains.
✦ It's effective in removing crayons, ink, pencil scribbles, etc.

White Vinegar

An all-natural cleanser - vinegar removes stains from carpets and windows to kitchen and bathroom walls.
✦ Take one cup of distilled white vinegar.
✦ Prepare a solution by pouring this vinegar in equal amounts of warm water.
✦ Fetch an old, but clean toothbrush (which is not in use), or a sponge, soak it in this solution and rub on the stains.
✦ Wash off after an hour or so. If the marks are still visible, you could have a rewash with undiluted vinegar.
✦ Ventilate your room by opening the windows or by using a fan, to get rid of the pungent odor of vinegar.

Borax

Borax is an eco-friendly solution to keep your home squeaky clean!
✦ Make a thick paste using powdered borax (1 tbsp.) and warm water.

✦ Lightly apply it over the stains. Don't scrub it. Let it stay for half an hour.
✦ Since the paste is powerful and thick, you may require to rinse off with soap solution first, and eventually with water.
✦ For cleaning toilet walls, you could make a solution of borax (1 cup) and water (1 gallon). Keep it overnight. Clean your toilet in morning with this solution using a brush. It loosens all the dirt buildup.

Toothpaste

Toothpaste has some amazing uses other than whitening teeth. The abrasion in toothpaste compels the stains to run off.
✦ Grab a tube of a non-gel toothpaste.
✦ Spurt out toothpaste in a ceramic container. You can add a drop or two of water to thin the paste.
✦ With a scrub brush, rub this paste on the marks of wall.
✦ Wash off the surface of wall with water.

Washing Soda

This can be called a stronger version of baking soda. People have been using it to clean their homes since time immemorial. Do wear gloves before employing this method.
✦ Make a solution of washing soda and water.
✦ Take 3.5 oz of soda and 1 gallon of water. Mix well.
✦ With a clean cloth, wipe the area that is badly stained, rusted, with this solution.
✦ Rinse off with water immediately.
✦ If kept for long, it would remove paint from wall.

All Purpose Cleanser

✦ Fetch a bottle. Add warm water (2 cups), borax (2 tbsp.), and grapefruit oil (4-6 drops). You could use a funnel for this purpose.
✦ Shake the bottle well.
✦ Add 1 tsp. of liquid castile soap and shake again.
✦ With a sponge, scrub the walls using this solution.
✦ Wipe with a damp cloth.

Bread

Bread can work as an efficient cleanser. It best works on wallpapers that get spoiled with grimes and grunges.
✦ Using a vacuum brush, dust off the walls.
✦ On the blotched area, rub back and forth with bread. Be careful for it will shed crumbs.
✦ Now brush one more time to gather bread crumbs.
✦ If required, use a dampened cloth to clean the surface.
