Strand Woven Bamboo Flooring Problems

Planning to get strand woven bamboo flooring installed in your house? This story which brings forth the problems of this flooring option, will help you in making your decision. Read on...
Strand woven bamboo flooring is very different from the regular bamboo flooring. It is much harder, denser, stronger, durable and long-lasting than most of the hardwood flooring options like maple and oak as well as the regular, cheaper bamboo flooring. What makes it so durable is the way in which it is created.
The process for creating this flooring type involves cutting shreds of bamboo, removing sugar from them and then weaving them together with resin, under high pressure, to form solid blocks out of them. These blocks are then cut into planks and used as flooring.
Strand wood flooring is stronger and visually more appealing than regular bamboo flooring. Since sugar is removed from the bamboo while creating it, the chances of termites attacking this type of flooring are greatly reduced. It is due to these very properties that strand bamboo flooring is fast gaining popularity.
However, all these positives do not mean that strand woven flooring is without any kind of flaws. There are some problems as well, which all people who are planning to get it installed in their home, should be aware of.

Problems with Strand Woven Bamboo Flooring

A strand woven bamboo flooring is very expensive. It can increase your budget to a great extent, especially if you hire a professional to install the floor for you. So, if your budget is low, it is suggested that you go in for a regular bamboo flooring.
However, if you want to use eco-friendly things in your house, then this bamboo flooring is what you should settle for. If you know how to install the flooring, then you can solve this problem of high cost by doing the installation yourself. This will bring down the expenses of the flooring to a large extent.
Another commonly experienced problem is that it can get scratched and abraded easily. Although, it is strong enough to take the everyday wear and tear, yet scratches can show on it easily, giving it an old, worn-out look. So, if you have pets in the house, you will have to be really careful as their claws can cause permanent marks on the flooring.
Moving around the household furniture can lead to scratches as well. If there are small kids in the house, you would have to make sure that they don't play on the floor. Thus, if you plan to install this type of bamboo flooring, you will be coming across all such issues on a daily basis.
Lastly, as is true with all kinds of flooring, regular maintenance, upkeep and cleaning is necessary, to make it last long. So, you would have to clean the floor once every week. For this, you would have to invest in a dust mop, soft bristle broom, a wet mop, a bamboo floor cleaner and a soft bristled brush.
Keeping dirt off the floor by mopping it regularly, keeping the floor dry at all times to prevent moisture and humidity from spoiling it and removing the spills as soon as they occur, are some things that you would have to take care of, otherwise it can warp or scratch the floor, giving it an old look and reducing the value of your home, in the process!
A strand woven bamboo flooring can give any space, whether a home or an office, a very unique, artistic appeal. It can make a place look luxurious, rich and unique, unlike any other kind of flooring. So, if you have always imagined your living space with such qualities, go ahead and get this bamboo flooring installed in your home!
