All You Need to Know About Microfiber Sheets

Leena Palande
If you are allergic to pollen or dust, microfiber sheets could be a good option for you. Microfibers are the fibers which are 100 times as thin as hair. Read this to know advantages of the sheets made from microfibers.
Pollen granules and dust mites do get caught in regular sheets and can lead to an outbreak of allergic reaction. Highest quality poly-amide and polyester are used to make microfiber bedding sheets. This makes them safe for people with pollen or dust allergies. No allergens can get caught within these sheets.
Although they come with a suede or silk like smooth texture; you don't have to follow any special instructions while cleaning them. You can place them in a standard washing machine like other regular sheets.

Microfiber vs. Cotton

Microfiber is made up of synthetic material like poly-amide and polyester. But these sheets give you a feel of rich cotton material like Egyptian cotton. The unique thinness of the fibers make these sheets exceptionally smooth and comfortable. These fine fibers are woven very tight. Sheets made from these fibers are lighter than Egyptian cotton sheets.
Higher thread count in Egyptian cotton sheets ensures the quality and long life of the sheets. Egyptian cotton sheets can last even for decades but the threads in the Egyptian cotton are almost three times thicker than the microfibers.
Although the thickness of the microfiber is less than 1 denier (unit of measure for the thickness of fibers), it is very strong. The sheets made from these fibers don't tear even with everyday usage.
Even if you wash them on a daily basis, they don't lose their shapes. These sheets can be a little bit expensive than regular cotton sheets but they are cheaper than Egyptian cotton sheets.

Cleaning the Sheets

To get rid of the debris, you should regularly vacuum your sheets with a high-powered vacuum cleaner. In case your drink gets spilled on the sheet, don't worry. Take a piece of cloth and try to blot the liquid. Do not rub the cloth aggressively in order to get rid of the stain. Using an old cotton napkin, gently rub the area and try to remove the stain.
You should not use products that contain bleach to wash your stained sheet. Using mild detergents helps retain colors of the sheets. If you are not able to remove the stain then you may get it professionally cleaned.
