Isn't it a nightmare to see an ugly coffee stain or a blood-red wine stain on your new carpet? Imagine seeing your beautiful carpet getting stained with chocolate sauce, ink, or paints. While you may not always be able to get even with the perpetrators of this unfortunate event, you can make sure you have some effective stain removal remedies at hand.

Natural Ways to Get Rid of Carpet Stains

Cleaning the carpet immediately after a spill will make it much easier, and you may not have to resort to professional help. The trick is to know what will help you clear those tough stains. The minute something spills on your carpet, dive in with white cotton or paper towels and let them absorb the liquid.
You can pick up foods like pudding, peanut butter or gravy from your carpet immediately using a clean spoon. Then spray some water and press a cotton towel on the area. Allow it to soak up the stain. Repeat the process till the stain lightens. If water does not work, you can try a few other methods.

Ammonia Solution

You can make a solution using one teaspoon of household ammonia and half a cup of water. Fill this solution in a pump and spray it onto the stain. Then, using a cotton towel or paper napkin, blot the area. Repeat if necessary. This is a very effective way to get rid of stains (especially blood) from a carpet.

White Vinegar

You can mix one tablespoon of liquid dish washing detergent with one tablespoon of white vinegar. Alternately, you can use one tablespoon of white vinegar and two cups of warm water. Soak a cotton cloth or towel in this solution and rub it on the stain. Blot with a dry cloth and reapply the solution till the stain disappears.
If you are using the detergent and white vinegar solution, you need to use a sponge dipped in cold water to dab out the stain. This method is especially effective with coffee stains.

White Wine

One gets a mini heart attack the moment they see red wine spill on their light-colored carpet. But not any more. All you need to do is pour a little white wine over the red wine. This will help neutralize the color of the red wine.
Now sprinkle salt over the stain and watch it absorb the stain. You can use a paper napkin to clear out the salt. Then, pour a bit of club soda over it and blot immediately using a cotton towel or paper towel. Repeat till the stain is gone.

Baking Soda

You can get stains out using baking soda too. All you need to do is sprinkle baking soda on the stain. Then, spray hot water on it. Allow the soda to get soaked into the carpet. Then, vacuum over the area and rinse with detergent water.
Spring into action the minute something spills on your carpets. It is easier to get the nasty stains out when they are fresh. Good luck with your cleaning!
