How to Clean Wooden Flooring

Wooden flooring makes your room look grand and spacious, therefore, it is important to know how to clean and protect it from getting dirty. Given below are tips on how to care for your flooring, and to protect it from any kind of damage.

Cleaning and maintaining wood flooring is simple and not a difficult task at all. You can clean your flooring after a gap of two days, using a mop or maybe a vacuum cleaner with a soft brush.

Get rid of any kind of dust particles or grime. You can do this using a soft broom. Make sure that there are no dust particles left as they might scratch the wood.
Sometimes, in order to give the floor a glossy look we use wax.

But, this substance attracts dust, making the floor look dirty. So, it is important that you carefully remove the wax and apply a new coat.

• Removing mildew or other stains from the wood floor can be a little tough, as you cannot use any chemical detergents. What you can do then is clean the floors with vinegar. Just mix at least ½ cup of white vinegar to the mop water and then wipe the floor. All the stubborn stains can be removed easily.

• Some stains caused by blood, tea and coffee, or maybe grease, can be hard to remove. In order to remove blood stains, you can sponge it off with a mixture of cold water and ammonia, for grease place a pack of frozen peas on the mark and then scrap it off with a knife.

• Sometimes kids tend to use the floor as a drawing board and they have crayon marks all over it. You can simply remove this with the help of toothpaste.

• If your pet dog has used your precious floor as a toilet and stained it, then you can remove that with a mixture of bleach and water (mix very little bleach ) and make sure that you do not let this solution seep below the finish, as this might lead to discoloring.

• While deep cleaning hardwood floors, make sure that you do not allow any water to seep in as it might damage or rot the wood.

Protect your floor from dust and grime, by placing foot mats near the door, so that guests can wipe their feet before they come in, house train your pets so that they do not urinate on the wood floor, also be careful that you do not spill anything on the floor and even if you do wipe it off immediately.
