Whether your grandchildren are regular visitors to your space or they’re moving in, it’s time to make your home kid friendly again. Empty nesters don’t always expect to have children in their home again. Your kids have moved out and started families of their own.
Odds are, your home is more of an adult space than it had been when your kids were still children. Now that you have grandchildren to think of, however, you may want to take into consideration how you can make your home feel comfortable.

Convert Unused Space into Craft Area

Most kids love arts and crafts. Likewise, a lot of adults find crafting to be relaxing and fulfilling. Why not craft with your grandkids? If you have any unused space, whether it be a breakfast area no one uses, a guest or storage room, you can dedicate this space to arts and crafts. You may want to invest in different bins or shelves to carry the supplies.
Consider buying different types of paper, cardboard, felt or other crafting materials. You’ll also want tools to color, paint and to glue. The sky is really the limit.
Come up with a list of a few different craft ideas that you think your grandkids would enjoy and then buy the supplies that you know could be used for that. When you hit up the craft store, simply gather what you think you and your grandchildren could use.

Build an Outdoor Pool

Swimming is an excellent activity to get involved in! Not only do most kids love to swim, but it is a great exercise for everyone. If you’re thinking about a pool, you should consider an inground pool.
Unlike many above ground pools, you do not have to worry about setting up or taking down the pool when the seasons change. Instead, you have a swimming pool all year round.
Before you seek out a pool contractor, make sure that you have some idea of the type of pool that you want. What size would fit you family? What type of filtration system do you prefer? Do you want other add-ons? Your pool cost is going to be dependent on a lot of factors.

Stock up on Baking Supplies

Everyone knows that kids love baked goods. In fact, you probably have memories growing up with your grandparents alongside of cookies or cakes. Perhaps you even baked with your children when they were still little. Baking is a great way to bond with your grandchildren.
Not only do the two of you get to share in a delicious treat, but it can be a great way to teach your grandkids how to behave in a kitchen setting.
You’re not going to want to make store runs all of the time, so make sure that you have some of the baking essentials at all time. This may include:
* Flour
* Sugar
* Baking powder
* Baking soda
* Brown sugar
* Food coloring
* Vanilla extract
* Cocoa powder
If you have favorite recipes, then you can also stock up on the different supplies that you know can work for those foods. A lot of baking supplies can be stored in your pantry for long periods of time. Stock up on those foods.

Construct a Jungle Gym

How is your backyard looking? One way that you can keep your grandkids entertained is with the construction of a jungle gym or swing set. Children love the opportunity to spend time outdoors. You are not going to be able to take them to the park each day.
Instead, why not have a swing set or jungle gym built in your yard? This provides them with a safe place to play at all times.
If your grandchildren often stay with you or if you have custody of your grandkids, you have to put in a little effort to make your home more kid-friendly. These tips can help you to create a warm and welcoming environment.
